Sherri Shepherd

Whether on stage or screen, Daytime Emmy® Award-winner Sherri Shepherd’s magnetic personality and hilarious sense of humor never fail to delight audiences. A self-described “class clown,” she relocated to Los Angeles during high school and considered being a mortician, but took a job as a legal secretary. She was encouraged by friends to put together her own stand-up act after seeing Andrew Dice Clay perform. Ms. Shepherd’s love of performing was instantaneous. Success however, was not. For five years she toiled as a secretary by day and performed stand-up at night and got her first break in the comedy Cleghorne!

In August 2009, Daytime Emmy award history was made when The View” hosts were named Outstanding Talk Show Host. It was the first time in the 36 year history of NATAS that multiple talk show hosts received this honor. In May 2009, The View co-hosts were chosen as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” by Time. In July, 2009 Forbes ranked The View #11 among “30 of the Most Influential Women in Media.”

Last August, Ms. Shepherd was named host of The Newlywed Game, which returned to GSN Network in November, 2010.

Ms. Shepherd was featured in the award-winning film Precious based on the novel Push by Sapphire and will soon be seen in the upcoming feature One for the Money. Ms. Shepherd’s film credits include: Who’s Your Caddy, Beauty Shop, Cellular, Guess Who and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. Ms. Shepherd’s television credits include: Less than Perfect, Everybody Loves Raymond, Joan of Arcadia, Suddenly Susan, The Jamie Foxx Show, and Hot In Cleveland to air in February 2011. She has also appeared on Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. A groundbreaking performance on the hit series Friends earned her the reputation as one of Hollywood’s most reliable sources for brilliant comedic delivery. Ms. Shepherd is a frequent guest star as Tracy Morgan’s wife, Angie Jordan, on the Emmy award-winning series 30 Rock. In 2011 she will appear in a TV Land comedy pilot as the office drama queen opposite actress Christine Taylor. Ms. Shepherd teamed with Jess Cagle and Kathy Ireland as hosts for the 82nd Academy Awards® pre-show, Oscars® Red Carpet… 2010 telecast. This was Ms. Shepherd’s first time as a host of the Oscar pre-show. In 2008, Ms. Shepherd and Cameron Mathison hosted the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on ABC.

Ms. Shepherd was Executive Producer and star of her own sitcom SHERRI on Lifetime Television and is the author of a humorous autobiography, Permission Slips: Every Woman’s Guide to Giving Yourself a Break (Grand Central Publishing).

In theater she had a successful run in the critically-acclaimed, off-Broadway hit, Love, Loss and What I Wore.

Ms. Shepherd, a celebrity spokesperson for March of Dimes, kicked off 2010’s “March for Babies” by ringing the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange. She is also the national spokesperson for the YAI National Institute.

She was awarded the 2010 Superstar Award at The Dusable Museum of African American History in Chicago and the 2010 BraveHeart Women Authenticity Award from BraveHeart Women Global Community recognizing her work as a trailblazer who inspires women and helping to create change in the world.

She has a five-year-old son Jeffrey.
