November 03, 2009 | Posted at 12:32 PM

Today on The View, Whoopi was out sick -- but that didn't stop the ladies from talking about all the hottest headlines in the news!

VIDEO: Watch the ladies discuss President Obama's first year in office.

Then, newlywed Ivanka Trump and her mother Ivana were here today to talk about Ivanka's big day ... and how Ivana feels about her daughter being married.  Ivanka told our viewers all about the wedding, and about her new book The Trump Card. She discussed some of the more personal events that appear in the book, like her parents' divorce (when she was only 9 years old).  Ivana told our viewers how she liked seeing her daughter as a bride -- and what her strategy was to raise three children in the public eye, keeping them out of trouble.  Be sure to pick up Ivanka's book! Everyone in our audience took home a copy.

VIDEO: The co-hosts welcome Ivanka and Ivana trump.

Aisha Tyler is bringing on the laughs in her new DVD Aisha Tyler Is Lit: Live At The Fillmore.  Aisha spoke about graduating from Dartmouth with a degree in Political Science, as well as her 15-year marriage to her husband. Aisha is also voicing a character on a new FX series called Archer -- and she says it is the best job she's ever had! Everyone took home a copy of Aisha's DVD.

Praise for Barbara Walters . . .
The fact that Barbara brought up the Hot Topic of Obama's accomplishments was a welcomed surprise. Knowing that the president has not done much since he was elected, barbara must now be taking Elizabeth's political side. Good for Barbara!
Only two items could be recalled . . . Stem Cell Research and Cobra Insurance. I know, pretty sad state of affairs relating to Obama. I was waiting for Elizabeth to mention the Saturday Night Live sketch relating to Obama's accomplishments, which was funny and unfortunately true.
Barbara hit the mark when she mentioned that Ford Motor company was profitable without receiving bailout funding. See, . . . government intervention was not needed to bailout the motor companies. Thank you Barbara for bring this fact up . . . and Elizabeth thanks you too!!
I'm impressed that Barbara Walters is finally seeing and revealing the true facts concerning Obama's poor and unproductive political performance.

Are you all forgetting the stimulus package which keep the economic mess he inherited from turning into an even worse depression (how quick we are to forget the total mess he came into); he renounced torture and is working to close Gitmo; on schedule with getting troops out of Iraq; nominating the first Hispanic woman to the Supreme Court; going to the Middle East and talking with others as though they too are grown ups; working towards a safer and less energy dependent nation through green jobs; and health care reform. He's done so much - and all the while 'swimming up stream' against the Republican'ts who would do anything just to see him fail. It doesn't seem to matter if the country continues (thank you Bush/Cheney) to go down the tubes as long as the Democrats don't succeed.

I can't believe Joy's comment about Health Care not being a profit making business. What if someone said they didn't feel the entertainment industry should be a profit making business. It takes knowledge and talent to work in a medical position as well as create the technology to have good health care and promote advancements in medicine. In the beginning of time health care has always been a for-profit service industry. In the United States we have the freedom to pursue opportunites that allow us to support ourselves financially, whether in health care, entertainment, etc. No one should dictate the value of the services we provide.

Thank you doro341 . . .
I see you, too, have noticed Obama has done nothing. Words like . . . "working to", on schedule with", working towards, . . . reinforces the fact he has still "not done" anything. Obama even avoided making decisions while he was a Senator . . . abstaining to vote for many important issues, or just not being present during the voting process! He has obviously not changed his ways.
(Thank you, doro341, for your precise wording)
Obama may have nominate a woman for the Supreme Court . . . but refused to nominate a woman for Vice President, where it would have been a more meaningful "step in the right direction".
Borrowing money from China and "just printing" money will not solve our economic mess. Where do YOU think the government got the money to fund the stimulus package . . . Remember what Barbara Walters said: "the Ford Motor Company didn't receive any bailout money, and they have become profitable this year". Sounds like the Obama stimulus package was not the correct solution, wouldn't you agree.

Very impressed the ladies of The View actually discussed something the liberal press usually stays away from: the negative side of abortion. A lady quit working for Planned Parenthood when she saw what abortion was all about. Sherri had the courage to share her experience with Planned Parenthood, and Elizabeth found her voice!! Woohoo!
