Guests: Janet Napolitano, Dr. Steven Lamm, Rachel Campos-Duffy
October 12, 2009 | Posted at 12:32 PM

It was a full day of Hot Topics here at The View! MTV's The Real World: San Francisco alumna Rachel Campos-Duffy filled in as a special guest co-host. Rachel has written a new book, Stay Home, Stay Happy: 10 Secrets to Loving At-Home Motherhood -- all about how to embrance being a stay-at-home mom. Thanks to Rachel, each member of our audience got to take home a copy!

The largest family on TLC, the Duggar family from 18 and Counting, introduced themselves to our audience. Appearing via satellite from their Arkansas home, they shared how they're preparing for baby number 19 -- and how they recently welcomed their very first grandchild, Mackynzie Renee.

Dr. Steven Lamm stopped by to tell us all about how to stay healthy this cold and flu season. Dr. Lamm shared what vaccinations everyone should be looking into. He even gave the crew of The View their vaccinations before he sat down with the ladies. Talk about always being on the clock!

VIDEO: Watch Bill Geddie get his flu shot!

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano joined the ladies to chat about what it really means to be a woman in politics, and about everything her department is doing to keep us safe.

Thank Heavens Rachel Campos-Duffy was reject, over and over, as a host on The View. She is just horrid. I never even heard of this person until I saw her today.

Good riddance Rachel. Answer your Black Berry as FOX is calling! Yuck!!!!!

Without sounding rude, I want to say that I feel bad for this Rachel gal. I am young, hispanic, catholic, republican, mother of 4 small children myself, and live in a small rural town, and did not relate to her at all....she seemed like she had all her comments memorized and compared to Elisabeth, did not seem witty. She seemed like she was trying too hard to be the "conservative pundit".....as a mother, I would never say to my children, that the President of the United States of America did not deserve to be the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, even as much as I adore and pray to Mother Theresa!

It's a good thing there are other opinions in the world besides Joy's. I thought Rachel was quite good. I don't know why they bother with having guests on. All they have to do is ask Joy Behar and you will get all the answers. Personally, I would have preferred to have a lot less interruptions and more information from the Dr. and the Secretary of Homeland Security. I didn't use to think that the cross talk was a problem, but it has gotten really bad. Even Barbara interrupts everyone.

I have to say I am glad that this Duffy person was never picked for a host, one day of her and I had enough.

Thank goodness Rachel was never hired! Jeez, I thought no one was worse than Elizabeth -- boy was I wrong. Is she serious, when she said "Obama does not deserve to win the Nobel Peace Prize because of his radical views on abortion" - oh I see if anyone agrees with a woman's right to choose, they are radicals! She seemed like she had an agenda and no one was going to stop her. Hopefully, this is her last time on the show -- let her stay out in the midwest, where she belongs!
