Today marked The View’s Second Annual Mutt Show! To kick it all off, Bernadette Peters was here with her dog to talk about a charity she helped start called Broadway Barks. She also spoke about her two dogs, her new book called Stella Is a Star, and about "Bernadette’s Pick of the Litter" -- the feature on her website where she highlights adoptable dogs!
David Fry was here to act as judge for The View’s Second Annual Mutt Show -- it was his job to crown the Best in Show! We broke up the mutts in two different groups: our viewers’ mutts, and mutts that are up for adoption at the North Shore Animal League America in Port Washington, New York.
With us were viewers that submitted their mutts for the contest: Lily and her owner Leslie from Kentucky; Oliver and his owner Eileen from New Jersey; Griffin and his owner Nancy from Connecticut; Maxwell Fartington and his owner Robert from New York; and Katrina Louise and her owner Kimberly from Indiana. We were happy to have them here! Lily won our Best Viewer Mutt in Show -- congratulations! All of our viewer mutts took home a years supply of Pedigree dog food.
And the NSAL Best in Show winner was ... Henry -- a two year-old shepherd/chow mix that was found homeless in Georgia. Fortunatly, after the show, Henry was adopted by a studio audience member -- he will now reside with his new family in Pennsylvania.
The mutts were judged on their physical soundness, temperament, and cuteness (of course!). If you want more information on all the mutts seen today or would like to adopt a dog or cat in the New York area, visit nsalamerica.org. If you are not in the New York area, visit adoptapet.com.
