There is no way I would ever buy this man's book. His words of hatred and discrimination make me sick.
Let me start by staying that my 16 year old newphew was a member of this man's church. He struggle with being called "gay" and "f**" in high school. He went to a member of this church who told him that this was not God's path for him. My nephew realized that he was not "God's best", and he commited suicide. My uncle found him dead in his bedroom - he had shot himself in the head.

We have to stop the hatred that is being shouted from the pulpit. I live in Texas and this man has brainwashed so many people. He takes money from the poor, and is the most Godless millionaire I know. I am trying to find a way to forgive him for what he did to my nephew, Ray.

I was SO glad that Whoopi brought up the gay issue.
To say that being gay is "not God's best" is spouting hatred and discrimination...not to mention ignorance.
I wish that Joy and Whoopi would have had more time with this guy. He needs to be outed as a "hater".

Joy, please have him on your show and don't let him off the hook. Please let him have it. Gay people DO NOT choose to be gay. God created them that way, and GOD LOVES THEM just the way they are.
Does Joel O want gays to commit suicide because they will never be God's best...if they want to be happy.

You ladies were a little soft on this guy. I didn't expect that from Joy and Whoopi. I think it was because you came to the end of the segment. That is what I choose to believe.

What upsets me that in the name of god it is OK to be judgemental and acts as if he knows the answers. Did he call god and they discussed what is "god's best"? No one should be judged by human concerning another human.

ok you have your opion and it ok but as soon as someone dose not agree with your lifestyle no matter how polite they are you jump and screem discrimination. I am tired of it they pounced on him like no ones business. I usually agree with Whoopi and very rarely Joy but they were both out of line I don't make it a habit of sending out mail like this but some one has to say something. Just because christians don't beleave in being gay dosen't mean we hate them we just don't beleave in their lifestyle. I myself am a christian but I beleave in legalizing pot. I do not smoke but I use too. Leave Mr. Osteen alone.

First off, I am not a Christian, although I was raised in a liberal Christian family. I am an Atheist and I believe in science and evolution, etc. However, I don't have a need to put down others' faiths. But I know lots of good Christian people who don't believe that being gay is a sin. There are lots of gay Christians! Many denominations of protestant Christian
churches have gay ministers, bishops and leaders. Why do so many fundemental and evangelical Christians think that their way is the only way? NOT ALL CHRISTIANS THINK THAT BEING GAY IS WRONG!!! I cringe when I hear someone like Sherri say that "I'm a Christian so I think xxxxx is wrong" No, your particular denomination or pastor or church may say that - not all Christians.

I don't understand what the big deal is. Joel stated that he isn't picking and choosing what to believe in the Bible he believes what it says. And he isn't lying it is in the Bible. Don't be upset with him, he stated that he loves everyone and he doesn't turn anyone away.

God wants us all to be His best and most will fail but it shouldn't stop us from trying.

I want to express my sympathy for your nephew. I have had a problem with organized religion, due to the many hypocritical stances on a variety of issues, including homosexuality. Osteen is worse than a politician, trying to skirt around the issue of homosexuality, but it is clear that he supports the idea that gay people should not be who they are, which is absurd. I'm so glad I live in San Francisco (I'm personally not gay), but to be surrounded by such closed minded people would drive me crazy. The bible was written by a bunch of guys so long ago and has so many horrible ideas in it and the fact that so many people live by it, disturbs me greatly. The bible is way out of date and should be revised to fit the times that we live in, so people are not driven to suicide, like your nephew, because society makes them feel so bad about who they are. To think that the authors of the bible were all just saints and did not have any other personal motives behind their teachings is just ridiculous.

I totally agree with you and I want to express my condolences for the loss of your nephew. I tried to write a more extensive post earlier, but I guess the moderators don't allow any posts that question religion organizations.

I want to say, I'm sorry to hear about your son. Did you son have support from the family, that it was alright that God loves everyone? Why did your nephew feel he was not loved by God?

This is what i'm talking about. Religion! It's just man's search for God. People use different words,but they basically mean the same. Catholic"s have confession for forgivness, Baptist call it being saved.But it all comes down to, Are you going to live God like or not. In both religions, most of them don't., Because there is judgement, There are many religions and one thing that everyone has is, God is love, forgiving,kind, compassionate. anything else in the bible that condrdicts that is mans vision.God leaves nothing out about what he represents.Why can't people see that?
