President Barack Obama Appears Thursday
July 26, 2010 | Posted at 4:13 PM
Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie, executive producers of The View, announced today that President Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, will be the featured guest on Thursday, July 29th. This marks the first time in history a sitting United States president has visited a daytime talk show. President Obama’s unprecedented appearance is part of the show’s continuing “Red, White & View” campaign which is committed to political guests and discussions.

Barbara Walters, creator/executive producer and co-host of The View will -- in honor of this rare occasion -- make an exclusive in-studio appearance to mark this historic hour. Ms. Walters underwent heart valve replacement surgery in May. Earlier this month she chatted about her recovery with pals Whoopi, Joy, Elisabeth and Sherri live via Skype®. It was her first nationally televised appearance since undergoing surgery.
“We are so pleased and honored that President Obama will be a guest on The View. The President last appeared on the program in March 2008 while he was still a Senator -- and First Lady Michelle Obama was a featured guest co-host in June 2008. This shows that both the President and First Lady feel that our show is an influential and important source of information and news. I’m also going to appear on The View Thursday for the first time since my open heart surgery in May. I will return full-time in September,” said Ms. Walters.

President Obama’s interview, scheduled to tape on Wednesday, July 28th, will touch on topics including his administration's accomplishments, jobs, the economy, the Gulf oil spill, and family life inside the White House.
While President Obama’s last appearance on The View was in '08, he was also a featured guest back in November '04 while promoting his book, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance.
What would you like to see the President discuss with the co-hosts?

July 26th, 2010, 6:56 amTHe most important thing that you can press President Obama on at this time is for him to nominate Elizabeth Warren to the new Consumer Protection Agency. Don't waste the show talking about feel good stories like his family, kids, dog, etc. You have an opportunity that not a lot of people get. Don't blow it. Help to get something accomplished that will help the American people and your viewers a whole lot more than finding out if the kids are enjoying their time in the White House. I will answer that one for you...they are!

July 26th, 2010, 9:48 amThis is a good move! Can someone please ask the President if he thinks that the business committee is not hiring because they are angry at him for reigning them in with rules and regulations. I happen to believe that this is the case. They are hindering the enconomic recovery. This weekend I heard Gringrich say that business people told him that they will not hire in "this environment." This environment of ending their wild, wild, west way of operating, I assume. Business seem to be prolonging the economic suffering of this country because of spite and I for one would love to know what we can do to shake up businesses.

July 26th, 2010, 10:06 amI agree! Please do not waste this time talking about feel good stories! There are millions of unemployed Americans that have been thrown to the wolves! we the 99er's did not receive ANY help from the UI extension bill that the President just signed! WHAT will be done to help us?! We are the true long termed unemployed and we have exhausted all our benefits! Most of us are over 55 and have a snowball's chance in hell to find a company that will hire us! The government says that there are 5 applicants to every one job...not so! I've heard that hundreds of people are applying to the very few jobs available! Will this administration set up tent cities like they did during the Depression?!
Please help us and be the 1st to discuss our plight and ask these tough questions!
We need REAL answers and REAL help!!!!
Let's see if this post will even appear let alone the questions be asked of the President!
