Make Your Closet Work & Save Money

The Clorox Company and Carson Kressley present tips to make the most out of your wardrobe this season without breaking the bank.
Watch Carson give us tips on The View.
- An organized life starts with an organized closet. It's hard to find those classic pieces when your closet is stuffed with items you never wear. Items that are still in good condition, but haven't been worn in a year, should be donated.
- Know when to say goodbye. If your items are ripped or damaged beyond repair, it's time to let them go to that great big closet in the sky.
- Be Yourself. The biggest fashion faux pas is trying to look like somebody else. Don't wear something just because it's one for the fashion moment. You have to be yourself, find what looks good on you, and embrace it, even if it's not "in."
- Make sure you have the basics when building a wardrobe. Every woman should own a tailored white shirt, dark denim jeans, black pants, a fitted blazer and a pencil skirt.
- Dress in layers to add extra punch to your classics. When you see someone who looks polished and put together, chances are their outfit has more than one layer that makes it interesting. Add something to a classic white shirt to take it to the next level: lightweight cardigan, wide belt, oversized statement necklace, scarf, vest, or maybe even colorful flats or heels.
- Never underestimate the power of details. The last thing on is the first thing noticed. Food stains don't count.
- Keep it simple and sassy! It's about building a personal wardrobe that looks great on you. Don't make it complicated. When you have a choice between two items, choose the simpler one and add accessories to keep it unique and fresh.
- Just say no to stains. Stains can give off a bad first impression so to keep your clothes looking their best and fight tough stains add Clorox® Bleach for whites and Clorox2® Stain Fighter & Color Booster for colors with your detergent.
- Revive "dintage" duds with a little TLC (Tender Laundry Care). Some of your old favorites just need a little extra care to turn them back into wardrobe staples. For your dingy whites, add Clorox® Bleach to your white laundry load to remove that back-of-the-closet grime and get the whitest whites possible. Use Clorox® Bleach Pen® Gel for on the spot stain removal on whites, within hands reach. For those colored classics, use Clorox 2® Stain Fighter and Color Booster to remove stains.
- Take garment care seriously from the start. The number one rule for maintaining your wardrobe is taking care of what you already own. Adding Clorox® Regular Bleach to all your white laundry loads will keep your whites fresh and crisp white. The reality is your detergent alone isn't enough to fight the dirt and stains that end up on our clothes. If you're like me and love color, don't forget to add Clorox 2® Stain Fighter & Color Booster to work on tough stains and keep your clothes bright.
- Laundry doesn't have to be the pits. Adding Clorox® Bleach to all your white laundry loads from the start will help protect items from getting those unattractive underarm stains and keep them fresh and crisp white.
- White a year-round classic. Spring, summer, winter, or fall-styled correctly, a white shirt is always in fashion and the perfect blank canvas to showcase your own personal style. To keep your white canvas it's whitest, add Clorox® Bleach to all your white laundry loads.

Remember, making the most of what you have is always in fashion and a part of that is helping those that don’t have a lot.
