Marc Ostrofsky, Internet entrepreneur and author of Get Rich Click, stopped by today to give us some pointers on how to make money online. Take a look at some of his tips below, and for more info, check out getrichclick.com.
Buy and Sell Domain Names
- Buy generic domain names and sell them to people who want them
- For example, Marc bought Business.com for $150,000 and sold it for $7.5 million
Make Money With No Money
- If you don't have a lot of money to start with, sell items online before you actually have the items to sell
- Take a photo of the item you want to sell, post the photo on an online sellers site, sell the item, and then collect the item and send it to the buyer
Receive Advertising Revenue From YouTube and Google
- If your video receives a large number of views, YouTube will share advertising revenue earned from the ads on your video
- Similarly, Google allows you to place ads on your own website to earn revenue
Sell Someone Else's Product
- Affiliate marketing programs allow you to earn money for promoting the products of other retailers and businesses -- earn revenue for each visitor or customer a business receives from your marketing efforts
- For example, write a review of a book on your website, link to certain online retailers, and earn money when someone who follows your link to Amazon makes a purchase
Create Your Own Product and Sell It Online
- Websites like ClickBank allow you to attract customers and accept payment for your digital products online
Have a Get Rich Click Mindset
- Make your website a part of your lifestyle -- live and breathe the online medium, from your clients and affiliates to your products and services
- Be aware of how the Internet can change the way you work, live, plan, and communicate
Take Steps to Put Your Ideas Into Action
- Consider the Internet a communication medium, and use it as a supplement to non-Internet marketing, not a replacement
- Your website should have a purpose, and specific and measurable goals should be a part of every aspect of your business model
- Make your wesbite interactive -- communicate with and respond to your clients
- Define your target audience and address them in a way that will make them want to respond
- Learn about your target market by looking at what they want, what they need, whom they interact with, what they are paying others for products and services
- Make your business simple -- make it easy to buy from, respond to, and even complain to
- Learn from others -- pay attention to, understand, and analyze other businesses, and implements strategies that have been successful
- Learn your craft and know it well
Follow These Secrets to Success
- Figure out the information or skills you lack to make your business a success, and bring in those who have the knowledge you need
- Learn from those who have the experience, tips, tricks, and secrets you need, and never stop learning
- Keep it simple, and don't get caught up in trying to be the next big success story -- smaller ventures make money, require little to no investment, and are easy to adapt to your situation
- Don't have an "it's already been done" attitude -- think outside the box and add in your own element to create something new
- Do what you love doing, and stick to the things you do best
Hire the Right People
- Pay for the best person you can afford and make that person an integral part of your network
- Hire people with the best attitude for your business -- those who you like and want to be around
- Hire those who have the skills you lack, such as a CPA
