Ask "The View" Crew: Wardrobe Tips

We went to our "View" Crew to get all of your wardrobe questions answered.

Fran Taylor, the co-hosts' stylist, answered a few key questions from the audience on trends and dressing on a budget:

With times being tough and money being tight, what item of clothing will give me the best bang for my buck?
Fran says the "boyfriend blazer" is a must! She says it can be worn with jeans, more sophisticated and suit-like, or with a hot and sexy dress.

With the holidays approaching, how can I make a simple outfit look holiday-ready?
Fran says it's all in accessorizing -- it can change the entire look of an outfit. As an example, Fran showed us by taking a plain black pants and top and adding a gold scarf, a gold clutch, and gold jewelry.

What tips do you have regarding my wardrobe and what I should wear that will make me look 10 pounds thinner?
Fran says black is not always the answer. She suggests wearing high-waisted jeans with lycra and belt a top with a thick belt, bringing in your waist.

The New Year is approaching -- and as the show’s stylist, what three items must I have in my closet for 2010?
For the new year, Fran tells us animal print, bright neon colors, and studded clothing will be the new big trends.

Ashley Alderfer, The View's wardrobe supervisor, answered questions and gave us great tips to fix a few wardrobe faux pas.

I love to wear wrap sweaters or wrap dresses, but every time I wear one they seem to pop open and I have to wear a tank underneath.  Any suggestions?
Ashley has this issue with Joy all the time. Her solution is a hook and eye. Sew a hook and eye in the inside of the sweater or dress and it holds the fabric without using a pin.

What can I do about the embarrassing sweat marks I always get under my arms and on my clothes?

Any suggestions of how I can take something old in my closet and make it festive for the holidays?
Ashley told us to take an old pair of shoes and use spray glitter to make a festive pair of shoes for the holidays.

I hate when my bra straps show. Any suggestions?

I have big boobs like Sherri. What’s the best bra for me?
Ashley suggests when you are buying a bra, make sure you get fitted and buy your true size. Look for padded straps and pay attention to spillage.
